- Swacch Bharat Abhiyan:
The Swacch Bharat Abhiyan or the Clean India Initiative has seen the country go a great transformation from some of its places transforming to a cleaner appearance as a part of the initiative.
It has brought the people of the country to work towards a single goal – Clean India!
And people have responded well. Be it the railway stations, bus stations, roads or rivers. In just the first few months of the scheme – 4 million toilets were built. With a plan to construct 96 million more in the next 4 years. Massive cleanliness drives are still being undertaken even months after the campaign was launched.
- Digital India Initiative:
The Digital India Initiative helps towards a greener India. We can file government forms online, we can get the governance done online. This way we save a lot of paper and fuel and thus a greener India.
It also improves the efficiency as it directly cuts down on the chances of officers getting bribed by the rich and the system is followed as it should be. It even aims to increase the digital literacy rate of the rural population and it helps them get more exposure to the digital world.
- Make in India
As Wikipedia says, Make in India is an international marketing campaigning slogan coined by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to attract businesses from around the world to invest and manufacture in India. The campaign has been concentrated to fulfill the purpose of Job Creation, Enforcement to Secondary and Tertiary sector, Boosting national economy, Converting the India to a self-reliant country and to give the Indian economy global recognition.
So far, it has been a great success with a huge amount of foreign companies deciding to invest in India and it has resulted in a huge sum of foreign investments into the country.
This not only will help increase India’s influence on global economy, it will also create a lot of local employment opportunities.
- Foreign Investments
India received billions of dollars of investment from just China, Russia and Japan. So far, India has also received investments from other parts of the world which amounts to billions as well.
And again, these investments will open new doors for the youth of the nation in terms of job opportunities and it will also help the country on its way to technical advancement and digitalization.
- World Yoga Day!
India has given the world the great gift of yoga which the UN finally took note of and declared June 21 as the World Yoga Day.
It was a moment of pride for all the countrymen when one of the oldest practices of our culture was globally recognized and appreciated.
- Nobel Prize Recognition
Kailash Satyarthi, India’s children rights activist was acknowledged for his efforts and awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. In 2015, he again gave us a moment to be proud of when he was felicitated with “Humanitarian of the Year” by the Harvard Foundation in 2015.
- Oil Prices!
Admit it, the rising oil prices are a moment of concern in every Indian household. There was a time when we dreaded the news of petrol and diesel prices going up by a certain amount after midnight. Thanks to the sudden meltdown in oil prices in the beginning of 2015, the government was able to capitalize on it and since then the oil prices haven’t been that much of a concern for the daily travellers.
Apart from the Mangalyaan completing 100 days in the Mars orbit, they were numerous other occasions when ISRO made the nation proud by its space developments.
It launched 5 British satellites from Sriharikota making it the first time ever that Britain had rented a rocket from India and it also marked the heaviest commercial launch undertaken by India.
In December 2015, ISRO launched 6 Singapore Satellites onboard PSLV-C29.
2015 was a great year for sports too. From Cricket to Tennis to F1, it was a good year for Indian teams.
The Sahara Force India F1 team secured a career best 5th position in the constructor’s championship with one podium finish which is a remarkable feat given the struggles it went through at the start of the season.
The Indian Cricket team bounced back from a series defeat to reach the semi-finals of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Even the test team had a good year with series wins against Sri Lanka and world number 1. South Africa.
Sania Mirza had the best year ever winning 8 doubles titles over the year and reaching the #1 rank in the doubles category.
Even Saina Nehwal reached the #1 rank as they continued to bring glory to them and the country.
