Those were the words that echoed in the countrymen’s ears when PM Narendra Modi addressed the nation at the launch of the Digital India Week.
The visionary that he is, PM Modi has yet again launched various initiatives under the Digital India Program, each aimed at making India a knowledge economy. The vision of a Digital India is mainly targeted on Digital Governance and Digital Empowerment of citizens.

Here are 7 key points from Modi’s Digital India Programme:

1. Digital Lockers

The Digital Locker System will let users upload and share the E-Documents via registered repositories which will ensure the authenticity of the documents online.

2. eSign Framework

The eSign Framework would allow citizens to digitally sign a document online using the Aadhar card authentication.

3. Swachh Bharat Mission App

The Swachh Bharat Mission app will be used by the people and government organisation to achieve goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission collectively.

4. BharatNet

The Government of India has undertaken an initiative named BharatNet which is aimed at connecting 2.5 lakh Gram Panchayats of the country via a high speed Digital Highway thus making it the world’s largest rural broadband connectivity project using optical fibre.

5. Online Registration System(ORS)

The Online Registration System(ORS) has been introduced under the eHospital application. It provides important services such as online registration, payment of fees and appointment, online diagnostic reports, enquiring availability of blood online, etc.

6. Digitize India Platform(DIP)

The Department of Electronics and Information Technology(DeitY) in collaboration with carious Central Ministries/Departments and State Governments has undertaken an initiative named the Digitize India Platform for large scale digitization of records in the country, a major step towards the dream of a Digital India.

7. Next Generation Network(NGN)

BSNL has introduced NGN to replace 30 year old exchanges, which is an IP based technology to manage all types of voice, data, multimedia/video and other types of packet switched communication services. BSNL has also undertaken a large scale deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the country.
